Yesterday i passed next exam from Oracle – „1Z0-898 – Oracle Certified Expert, Java Persistence API Developer” with 81% score. I wanted to share with You my knowledge how i learn to pass it.
First book You need to read is: „Mike Keith and Merrick Schincariol – Pro JPA 2 Mastering the Java Persistence API”. This book covers all materials and chapters needed for exam. There is very good explanations about many problems. Everything is written in plain language. For me there is only one objection: there isn’t any questions on the end of chapters and better summary like in book Sierra & Bates, who write the best book tto 1Z0-851. With this solution „Pro JPA 2″ would be even better for that exam.
After reading this book, reading specification ( you can download it here - Java Persistence 2.0 Specification ) is good to fill gaps about some topics. For me, it was annotatations using java.util.Map with @ElementCollecion, @MapKeyJoinColumn, @MapKey etc. I think i don’t have to add explanation why You need to read specification.
Like on the first exam – JQ+ on – http://www.enthuware.com/ still one of the best application with that amount of hard questions.
There isn’t so much mock test like in 1Z0-851, so i was forced to learn only from book I described before and from specification.
Exam has many tricky questions. Some questions i wasn’t sure i check 2 times. I end checking all quesions in 8 minutes before end. From about December 2012 You get e-mail with your result score after 30 min, you don’t get score like was before after pressing „Finish”.
I still think like any other science you need to have theory about your work. It is a lot easier if you have „whip” to learn and organized your knowlegde. What next ? I don’t know … soon
